The Stokvel Company is a leader in rebranding stokvels and savings associations; providing them with the required tools and services to enable them to deliver greater value for their members; enhance their investment opportunities; increase the leverage of their collective buying power; and transform the way they do business.

The Stokvel Company serves a broad base of associations, organizations and individuals who are committed to savings and wealth creation. Stokvels represent a significant part of the South African community. An estimated 8 million people belong to stokvels and it is conservatively estimated that the industry generates over R12 Billion Rand per annum.

The emergence of a black middle class creates a need and demand for all types of new products and services that were previously not accessible due to low incomes.
  • The Stokvel Company is a cost efficient means of addressing this market.
  • The planning, marketing, database systems, organising and road shows that the Stokvel Company have implemented to date have proved the effectiveness of their strategy to rapidly associate stokvels and savings associations on a national basis.
As a company representing the objectives of the Government's Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment ("BBBEE") Strategy, the Stokvel Company is in an excellent position to be deemed an investor of choice in companies for identified stakes reserved for BBBEE shareholders.

Throughout the day Amway representatives shared exciting stories about successful independent business owners who achieve every day. We celebrated all our successful, forward thinking and hard working IBOs who embrace the fundamentals of freedom, family, hope and reward.

I was embraced by future consumers who enthusiastically wanted to experience our product offering. Women were amazed by a makeover of basic cheek colour, single eye shade colouring and mascara, finished with a lip gloss. Women approached us with intrigue and left our display looking rejuvenated and enthused about life. It was an eye-opening experience for me, as a Xhosa speaking woman, to realise that, as a company, we are entering a new avenue in which we are able to access a multitude of consumers every day and on a consistent basis. One of Amway's goals and objectives in partnering this event included the need to increase brand awareness at an effective cost to further support the growth of this billion rand industry.

As business owners you share your ideas with us and we partner with our leadership to listen to what they have to say. Amway South Africa communicated with over a thousand stokvel delegates. The bigger picture would be to then also realise that each delegate is a representative of a stokvel group which could have up to two and a half thousand members. Needless to say the objective of creating brand awareness was successfully achieved!

With popular media such as The Sowetan, Drum and the SABC present, the event was well communicated to a larger audience and we are confident of the impact this will have on our efforts to create an awareness of Amway and all our product brands.

We trust that some of our leaders will be busy working with the many interested consumers of products and potential new independent business owners.

Amway also sponsored the Entrepreneur of the Year award and was proud to congratulate a stokvel group called Bontitas.
Entrepreneur of the Year was won by Bontitas Burial Society. Bontitas has a funeral scheme based in Davyton which comprises of 900 members. They also have an extensive investment portfolio to maximize returns and benefits for policy holders.
Amway was very proud to honour these members for their achievements.

Vince Musewe, Deputy CEO of the Stokvel Company said that, "Having the support of an international company of the calibre of Amway joining the stokvel movement reinforces our belief that we are on the correct path in creating sustainable opportunities for stokvels. Amway and The Stokvel Company support wealth creation and being in control of the direction of your own future. Amway Business opportunities will empower females in particular, who not only are the majority of our population, but also of stokvels. We intend to increasingly ensure that our members begin to focus on creating wealth for future generations."
