Guide to supplementation…
A good starting point with Nutrilite:
At Nutrilite we believe that foundational nutrition is of the utmost importance to assist you to reach your Optimal health on a short- or long-term basis.

Currently there are many multivitamin/multimineral supplements available in the marketplace, and it may be difficult for some customers to determine which product is best to supplement dietary nutrient intake. Nutrilite is the leading global brand of nutritional supplements for a reason: *we've earned our customers' trust through our commitment to developing high quality, efficacious products rich in plant concentrates.

Carl F. Rehnborg, founder of Nutrilite, created the first multivitamin/multimineral vitamin over 70 years ago. He was committed to developing a plant-based approach to supplement the diet and bring it back into balance, and pioneered the field of nutritional supplements. We hold true to his founding principles today. Double X is our best example of this approach, and is a product that truly combines the Best of Science and the Best of Nature.

How to choose a good nutritional supplement:

  • Look for vitamin levels that are consistently at or above the RDA. A balanced multi should contain 12 different vitamins (A, C, D, E, B1, B2, B5, B6, B12, folic acid, niacin and biotin)

  • Look for mineral levels that do not exceed the RDA
  • Check the vitamin A source (retinol versus beta-carotene). Vitamin A is a fat soluble nutrient, and may accumulate to dangerously high levels in some individuals. Beta-carotene is a safe and effective source of vitamin A that the body can convert into active vitamin A as necessary. Most of the vitamin A activity should come from beta-carotene to guard against tissue accumulation.
  • Look for a variety of phytonutrients and plant concentrates. There is emerging evidence that phytonutrients, such as lycopene and lutein offer health benefits . Plant concentrates may be rich sources of antioxidants that protect against free radical damage.
  • Check if the nutrients are standardised. This means that the amount of nutrients stated on the labels is accurate and will not vary between batches

    What does the RDA Mean?

The RDA (recommended daily allowance) is similar to the DRI (Dietary reference intake), and reflects nutrient levels that guard against deficiency. In the absence of obtaining these levels, basic metabolic and biochemical processes in the body fail to function normally. However, there is no clear consensus in the medical or scientific literature regarding the optimal level of nutrients to insure good health.
